I am a PhD student in Music Theory at Yale University, where my research lies at the intersection of music theory, music cognition, computational methods, and global musical modernism. I hold a Master of Music in Music Technology and a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance, with a minor in Chemistry, from New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development.

My research examines how listeners perceive and organize musical structure, particularly in relation to expressive timing, rhythm, melodic contour, and musical complexity. I use experimental, computational, and corpus-based methods to investigate these questions, drawing on perspectives from psychology, data science, artificial intelligence, and the cognitive sciences. I am also interested in Chinese and cross-cultural musical modernisms, including the ways that music, technology, politics, and cultural exchange shape musical thought and practice.

Alongside my research, I am an active pianist with experience performing contemporary solo and ensemble repertoire. I have also worked as a music director and collaborative pianist, partnering with singers, actors, directors, and production teams to develop musicals and theatrical productions. My broader professional experience includes artist management, higher-education advising and admissions, and residential life.
